Jacobs & Cushman Food Bank

About

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, in collaboration with the North County Food Bank chapter, operates alongside nearly 500 nonprofit partners and stands as the largest hunger relief organization in San Diego. The Food Bank distributes 44 million pounds of food annually, catering to around 400,000 individuals every month.

The Food Bank receives food from a range of sources including locally-run food drives, the USDA, growers, retailers, and wholesalers. Once the food arrives at the warehouse, volunteers inspect and sort the food, which is categorized by food group, boxed, and bagged for distribution to the community.

Volunteers who have not registered for a shift on SDFB’s website will not be allowed to volunteer (scroll down for instructions).

For each shift, SLC reserves slots for its members to volunteer as a group at SDFB. The registration window for our group opens 30 days prior to the shift and closes 7 days in advance of the shift. When the registration window closes, any unregistered volunteer slots will be released so that other community volunteers may sign up. Members of SLC can still register within 7 days of the shift, but slots may be full.

Before each shift, find the SLC coordinator that has a paper sign-in sheet and check in with them.

After each shift, log your volunteer hours at https://www.trackitforward.com/site/slc.

● First-time volunteers at SDFB must bring a signed food bank waiver form to their shift

● Volunteers must be 11 years old or older
