Presidential Volunteer Service Award

总统义工奖须知

The President’s Volunteer Service Award is a prestigious national honor bestowed by the President of the United States to recognize outstanding volunteer service. Established by executive order during George W. Bush’s presidency, this award celebrates individuals and groups who demonstrate a sustained commitment to community service over the course of 12 months. SLC members will be honored with different PVSA award levels based on the number of volunteer hours completed through various SLC programs.

Typically, the Student Leadership Club applies the PVSA award for SLC volunteers in September each year for a 12-month period from Sep 1 to Aug 31.

SLC currently accepts a volunteer to transfer hours from another qualified organization to SLC. To be eligible for PVSA submission, those transferred hours should be certified and less than the total hours volunteered with SLC.

Teens (11–15)
Bronze: 50+ hours / Silver: 75+ hours / Gold: 100+ hours

Young Adults (16–25)
Bronze: 100+ hours / Silver: 175+ hours / Gold: 250+ hours

Assuming a boy celebrates his 16th birthday(Yay!) on May 1. He volunteered 80 hours from Sep 1 to Apr 30, and 40 hours from May 1 to  Aug 31. He will be qualified for the silver award for the age group 11-15 (80 hours > 75 hours), as well as the bronze award for the age group 16-25 (120 hours > 100 hours). In this case, he will be granted with teen's silver award.
