Restoration Fundraiser 7/26/2024

By: Jenna Huang

On July 26th, 2024, club members from the AAPASD Student Leadership Club hosted a fundraiser event at Ralphs in Del Mar Highlands to spread awareness and raise funds for their current restoration project. At the event, volunteers worked a booth in front of the store, where they sold baked goods as well as shared information about the project’s history and objectives.

In preparation for this event, volunteers created baked goods to sell, as well as a trifold poster with details about the restoration project, FLPCP organization, Black Mountain habitat, as well as information about their current project.

This project, which targets an area of the mountain along the Ahwee Trail, aims to expand the restoration project beyond its original boundaries to introduce more native plant species in the Black Mountain Park. The money raised from this fundraiser will be put towards purchasing new native plant species from local nurseries to populate this area.

Altogether, the fundraiser was a great success and in total, the volunteers raised $120 to put towards their new project!
