Restoration
8/25/24

On August 25th, SLC club members participated in the second August restoration event with the Friends of Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve (FLPCP) organization.
As per usual, volunteers focused on watering to get the growing natives through the dry summer. While watering, some volunteers observed an especially large group of milkweed beetles!
These beetles eat the leaves, buds, and flowers of the milkweed plant, which is especially significant as the plant itself is actually toxic!
On the walk over to the site, the volunteers also spotted three Tarantula Hawks near one plant, which is particularly unusual.
After the watering, volunteers took a short walk through the park before leaving.
Overall, this weekend marked yet another successful and productive restoration event!
